Question:

Good evening,

We Christians are learned that Jesus is the son of God and Mary the mother of God, which we interpretate saying that God made himself a human to redmpt humanity from the original sin...

Although we don't consider ourselves polytheists as we have only one god (see also our first commandment "you will not have other god but me") I can see The point of disagreement with the Quran.

if the Quran is right, if this is written, then our leaders knew and know... so why did they willingly learn something changing the word of god bringing in mistake millions people... What is the purpose of this??

I am Italian and my English is not very good, I hope anyway thet my question was clear enough.

Thank you for your precious help.

Answer:

Greetings and Good morning sister

Many thanks for your query.  You have asked "why did they (our leaders) willingly learn something changing the word of god bringing in mistake millions people... What is the purpose of this??

As Muslims are source of information is the Quran which states:

Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way. (05:77)

The Quran also states that Jesus Christ pbuh himself never claimed to be the son of God, and in addition, indicates that Jesus Christ pbuh will deny having ever claimed divinity at the Last Judgment, and God will vindicate him.

The reasons for above are multiple. These include authenticity of the current Bible. Bible was not written by Jesus Christ pbuh himself but was compiled over a quarter of a century after he had left this world, by his apostles. There were multiple authors, and Bible has undergone human textual interpolation over a period of time. As a consequence it is not present in its original form today. Quran acknowledges Torah and Injeel (Old Testament and New Testament) as Divine Scriptures revealed to Moses and Jesus Christ  pbut, but also states that they are not in their original state and have been altered. Furthermore even in the current Bible there is no explicit verse that says that Jesus Christ was God.

Another factor which has been important is the usage of the term son of God in the Christian Divine Scriptures. The Oxford Dictionary of the Jewish Religion confirms that in Jewish idiom “Son of God” is clearly metaphorical. To quote, "Son of God term occasionally found in Jewish literature, biblical and post-biblical, but nowhere implying physical descent from the Godhead.”  Hastings’ Bible Dictionary comments: In Semitic usage “son ship” is a conception somewhat loosely employed to denote moral rather than physical or metaphysical relationship.  Thus “sons of Belial” (Jg 19:22 etc.) are wicked men, not descendants of Belial; and in the NT the “children of the bride chamber” are wedding guests.  So a “son of God” is a man, or even a people, who reflect the character of God."

For example Luke 3:38: “...Adam, which was the son of God.”

Both II Samuel 7:13-14 and I Chronicles 22:10 read, “He (Solomon) shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.  I will be his Father, and he shall be My son.

In Matthew 5:9 Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Later in Matthew 5:45, Jesus prescribed to his followers the attainment of noble attributes, “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.” Not exclusively his Father, but their Father.

The most important one, ’answered Jesus, ‘is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.’ (Mark 12:28-29)

Furthermore,  I enclose a quote from an article by Nadir Aqeel and have enclosed the article as one of the links below.

He states."History tells us that, unfortunately, Jesus (pbuh) had not yet gathered sufficient following before he was removed from the world by God’s grace. With few followers, the Good News had not been compiled, recorded and circulated. Even before such an attempt could be made, Saint Paul joins the apostles and comes up with a Neo-Platonic interpretation of the message of Jesus (pbuh) and pleads freedom from the Law. (The ideas of Pantheism had remained prevalent in Alexandria due to the influence of the Jew mystic Philo which were later to be articulated and perfected as a philosophical system by Ammonias Saccas and Plotinus.) Paul is strongly opposed by the Apostles in the beginning, but Saint Barnabas facilitates his entry into the Apostolic group. Even then, after a short time, we see that Paul is opposed by Barnabas and also by Peter. Peter and Barnabas vanish from the Acts of Apostles after the fifteenth chapter and are heard of no more. It appears that the abilities of Paul to win a large following among the Gentiles paves the way for the smooth acceptance of his views in Asia Minor and around the Mediterranean coast. Very soon, the truth taught by Jesus (pbuh) is lost in the vociferous proclamations of Pauline theology. With the passage of time, the New Testament which largely consists of Pauline letters is made the basis of theology developed by the early Christians of the first and second centuries. Pauline letters actually reinterpreted the message of Jesus Christ (pbuh) to make it appear what it is today. Even today, possibly the most convincing and explicit evidence for Christian doctrine would be found in Pauline letters and epistles, and not in the red lettered verses of the Gospels."
