Pictures/Paintings/Sculptures
Question:
What is the stance on drawing human/animal portraits with respect to Quran/Sunnah/Hadith? Where does the notion that 'God will ask people to give life to what they had drawn, painted, sculptured on the last day', come from? If someone paints portraits for the sake of art and not to worship it, then what is the status of such a deed?

Answer:
Salaam sister
Many thanks for your query. In the opinion of our scholars Islam does not prohibit all types of pictures and portraits. Pictures and portraits that exhibit religious sanctity and encourage polytheistic tendencies or portray prohibited acts like illustrating nudity or indecent sexual acts are unpermissible.
I enclose link from our sister web site which clarifies this issue in detail.
