Niqab (Face Covering)
Question:
What is the standing of 'Niqab' (Face Cover) in light of Quran/Hadith/Sunnah? Is it farz, encouraged or discouraged?
Answer:
Salaam sister
Many thanks for your query, in the opinion of our scholars, face covering is neither a directive of the Shariah ( i.e Quran and Sunnah of prophet Muhammad pbuh) nor a permanent part of the customs and traditions of the Muslim societies.
I enclose links from our sister web sites that provide further information on this issue.
