Islam & Paedophilia
Question:
Reading through some Isalmic web sites, I see the value of many teachings to the individual and their conduct. However, i am concerned to be told that Islam condones sex with children and that the Prophet practised this behaviour. It is a contradiction of the high moral values I have read of and am in agreement with.

Salaam sister
Many thanks for your query. In the opinion of our scholars the divine religion of Islam appeals to human intellect and has its basis in our innate nature. Any divine religion claiming to condone paedophilia and its prophet practically indulging in it would immediately loose all credibility.
The two sources of Islam are its divine scripture Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh. There is no mention in either to suggest that Islam condones sex with children or that the prophet Muhammad pbuh practised it.
I would be grateful if you could give any specific reference to substantiate the claim so I can address it.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to e-mail us
