Birth Control Pills
Question:
What is the religious advice w.r.t to taking birth control pills to plan a family?
What is the most advisable or 'allowable' method of family planning in Islam?
Is it religiously wrong to wish for and try for a certain number of children, not more and not less?
Answer:
Salaam sister
Many thanks for your query. In the opinion of our scholars, contraception or birth control methods are allowed in our religion. Parents are accountable for the provision and up bringing of their children, so they should have a say in their number also. Parents have a right to choose and plan the size of the family, and its timing according to their desires and circumstances.
All forms of currently available, reversible forms of contraceptives are allowed by our religion.
I enclose links from our sister web sites that provide further information on this issue.
